Garden Design News

Gardeners Guild:
I am now a registered member of the gardeners guild, specialising as a horticultural specialist consultant, I also am teaching specialist pruning.

Collaborations:
I am not taking on any new gardening work, but I will be continuing to work with my existing valued gardening clients.
I will be devoting time to developing the design, planting plan & consultancy side of my business; aspects I am passionate about.

To balance this I have found some great new likeminded people to work with in the coming years:
I have a small team of RHS qualified women gardeners to do some of the clearance, planting and pass on the garden maintenance work too.

For larger jobs I use Julia and her all female team from The Lady Gardener
I also can recommend Gary Hall for other gardening tasks.

I have 3 different tree surgeons I can recommend,  depending on the work needed, please contact me for more information.

Art Work News:
I have added Organic Ceramics to give you a glimpse of the garden sculptures & pots I create.

I have been creating a selection of  new pots & sculptures and have Raku fired them with my friend & Sensei Ember Vincent.

Corona Virus:
For safe working practice I am following government guidelines:
I keep socially distanced and will wear a mask if I need to meet with you in your home or come through your house.
​I use alcohol gel or wipes to clean my hands and any handles or gates I touch.
I can do consult meetings via Zoom or skype, providing your signal is ok in your home and garden. 

I can create garden designs, planting lists, do gardening advice & information sessions, plant identification and aftercare,  pruning advice, gardening lessons and garden design.

Plants: Availability, Costs and Timescales in 2024 
Due to huge increase in people wanting to get their gardens done, it is affecting plant availability. 
 
Climate Change: The change and unpredictability in the weather is having a huge impact, with lots plant losses last year due to extreme temperatures, water shortages last summer and a cold and wet winter.
This will be affecting plant availability again this year.
 
Covid: Plant nurseries had huge impact with reduced numbers of people able to work, so most nurseries were only able to produce limited numbers of plants.
 
Prices have increased for multiple reasons : Brexit - import paperwork increase.  Plant Bio security passports on any imports. (To stop pest and diseases impact, E.g. such as Ash dieback, oak & box moth)
  
Timescale: I am currently working about a month ahead.
The consult, planting list, planting plan process can take 2-4 weeks minimum. Any design and landscaping work will take 4-8 weeks minimum*
Plant deliveries being at least 2-4 weeks, depending on availability.
 
* Many landscapers are doing site visits in 2-4 weeks approx. With work booking for the  summer & autumn
